Website still under development
ADDI is a student initiative at RWTH Aachen University. We pursue the goal of developing, building and optimizing unmanned and (partly) autonomous flying devices such as multicopters, airplanes and airships. Main goal of our association is the participation in international competitions and the realization of multi-faceted projects. On our homepage you will find all information about our association, our members, the different competitions as well as projects both past and present.
Discover
Every project starts with an idea. A thought about how to solve a problem or accomplish the tasks of a competition. Whether a general concept, a specific process or a concrete solution to a problem, this spark is the start of a project. To take initial spark to a completed project requires a dedicated and motivated team, and this spirit of colaboration has proven just as important as the technical skills and understanding we have build together.
Develop
Before one of our projects takes to the skies, it must first be developed and built. This involves mastering the many other new challenges that arise, designing practical solutions for them and then implementing these in reality. Theoretical knowledge is just as important here as a little manual dexterity. Finding that novel or innovative way to reach a goal is what makes working on our projects very rewarding.
Fly
Flying an aircraft is the final stage of every project. This shows whether the requirements have been met and whether the right approach has been chosen. Now it’s time to win the competition or fulfill the mission. The experience of a successful project motivates to take part again next year, or to look forward to other exciting goals. Learning from mistakes as well as success to iterate and improve keeps us ever going forwards.
